Game User Research
Below is a video showcasing the gameplay during the prototype stage. For this playtest, I provided the team with simple verbal feedback based on how the playtesters approached the game. The playtest method I used was primarily observational, focusing on how players interacted with and reacted to the prototype.
Thanks to the feedback I communicated with the team, we were able to address several key issues, particularly the lack of visual cues to guide players on what to do and where to go. Players also encountered issues with our indicators. Below is a video showcasing the improvements made during the vertical slice stage (the video is sped up).
For our vertical slice playtest session, I primarily used observation, along with a think-aloud method for playtesters who were willing to participate. Additionally, I had players complete a simple survey to gather feedback and ensure we were able to capture their opinions on the specific aspects of the game we were testing. Below is the attached playtest report from the vertical slice session.
For the playtest report, I presented a simple verbal summary to the team, highlighting areas that needed improvement and pointing out the changes we needed to make. While I don't want to spoil our final game build, here’s the trailer to the finished game! If you'd like to see how the final build turned out, feel free to check out the Itch.Io page to get the build!
